What is the average speed marathon runners run at?

Specifically the London Marathon, which has no uphill areas.

The WR is about 2 hours, so how many kph is that?

Also, what about the average speed for 3 hours?|||The women's race in London is normally won in around 2hrs 15mins. That gives an average speed of 18.75km/h

The Average womens' completion time for London is around 5 hours, with an average pace of 8.44 km/h

.|||Most runners finish in about 4 hours, 6.5 miles per hour for a marathon (I haven't got the figures to hand for a marathon but most half marathon runners finish in 1:48 and most 10k runners in 48 minutes).

A marathon is 42.195km - so if you say a 2 hour finishing time the speed is about 21kph

For 3 hours the speed will be 14 kph|||The record time for the Boston Marathon is 2 hours, 7 minutes, and 14 seconds. Over 26.2 miles, that's an average of about a 4 minute, 48 second mile, or about 12 mph

I hope this helps take care.
