How long before a half marathon should I start training?

I'm sixteen and I plan on doing a half marathon. I need help on a training schedule or a website that could help me plan this. And when should a actually start training before the half marathon?|||Give yourself about 12 weeks. Click this link for a good schedule:

Redunico has the right answer. Runners World Magazine just published a wonderful section in its August 2009 edition about the half-marathon, complete with extra articles and dialogue above just a training schedule.

You'll enjoy it, and good luck|||Depends on what kind of a base you have or if you're going from scratch, etc.

Some people already have a routine established where they're not far off at all. Others going from scratch who are a bit out of shape could have a ways to go.

Assuming you have a bit of a base, it would probably be good to start thinking of race-specific training in the ballpark of 12 weeks out (or more).|||START TRAINING NOW IF YOU WANT TO WIN.

You want to eat properly. Stop eating fast food. Eat fruits and vegitables. Start slow. Drink 16 oz of milk every day. Don't drink sugary softdrinks. Start slow, focus on proper running technique, do not overstride.|||This should help.
